After fishing in the rough ocean near Pelican, Alaska, this cove offers a welcome respite from the waves and turbulence. My painting is taken from a photograph of the shoreline as we entered the inlet. The sky was overcast, the shore misty, and the trees formed an impenetrable wall that separated sea and land. The rocks reflect the grey green hues of the sky, and the interesting patterns in the water display the serene quality that is such a stark contrast from the ocean that is rocking and rolling just outside the inlet.
